Scientific Advisory Board

NutriCology's Scientific Advisory Board adds a wealth of traditional medical knowledge and sophistication to supplementation development. It has been instrumental in both product development and legislative issues which impact the Nutritional Supplement market globally.

In memoriam: Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, MD, was a preeminent expert in Glandular Nutrition. He ran a private practice in New York City with Dr. Linda L. Isaacs, MD. Dr. Gonzalez had a BA from Brown University, attended premed at Columbia University, and did his internship in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University. He obtained his MD from Cornell Medical College in 1983, where he was named a Teagle Scholar and awarded Honors for performance in Internal Medicine. At Cornell, Dr. Gonzalez studied with Dr. Robert A. Good, who approved and supported his investigation of alternative medicine. He was invited to join Dr. Good’s research group as a full fellow in immunology when Dr. Good left Sloan-Kettering, first at the University of Oklahoma, and then at All Children’s Hospital in Florida. During a three-year working partnership with Procter & Gamble, Dr. Gonzalez perfected the processing for pancreas glandular and other glandulars. Before his medical career, Dr. Gonzalez worked as a journalist for Time Inc. and other news media. He wrote many books, articles, and acted as honored speaker at many medical and nutritional events. He is deeply missed.

Stephen Levine, PhD, is the founder of NutriCology, and heads up its Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Levine graduated Cum Laude from the State University College, Buffalo, NY and obtained his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Levine was a Horace and Edith King Davis Memorial Fellow; recipient of an NIH Training Grant, and Predoctoral Fellow, 1972 - 1976. Dr. Levine is internationally recognized as one of the foremost innovative leaders and researchers in nutritional supplement formulation. He is recognized as an international lecturer with several editorial positions in professionally sought after publications. Dr. Levine also co-authored, with Parris M Kidd PhD, the book "Antioxidant Adaptation: Its Role in Free Radical Pathology," which is considered a leading resource on this subject.

Dr. Jeffrey Anderson, MD, is Medical Advisory Board co-chairman with Dr. Stephen Levine. Dr. Anderson is a Marin County based medical doctor whose work in the area is well known. Dr. Anderson consults with Dr. Levine to develop state of the art designer supplements the Company is known for originating. Prior to his consulting work with the Company, Dr. Anderson was in private practice in Marin County for approximately 25 years. He has been working with Dr. Levine during for approximately the past ten years, at the same time acting as a consulting physician for other companies. He is best known for his ground-breaking work in the fields of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. Dr. Anderson was one of the first Bay Area Physicians to focus on the causes of chronic fatigue. His extensive work in immune system dysfunctions make him the perfect choice for NutriCology's Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Anderson received his M.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1969.

Dr. Michael Ash, DO, ND, BSc(Hons), RNT, is an osteopath, naturopath and nutritional therapist. He was founder and director of one of the UK’s largest integrative medicine clinics in 1982, which then introduced the principles and practices of functional medicine in 1992. After 25 years of full time practice he sold his practice in 2007; he is currently managing director of Nutri-Link Ltd, and Clinical Education (a not for profit post graduate medical education company). He is also the author of many articles, both peer and non-peer reviewed, as well as editor of He specializes in the creation and testing of new and existing natural agents for the purpose of inducing immune modulation and tolerance with a focus on the mucosal immune system. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Institute for Functional Medicine, and in this role he lectures internationally on immune and gastrointestinal function.

Dr. Todd A. Born, ND is co-owner and medical director of Born Naturopathic Associates, Inc., in Alameda, California. He is licensed in California & Connecticut. He is also Product Manager at NutriCology and a Thought Leader for UK-based Clinical Education. Dr. Born graduated from Bastyr University in Seattle and completed his residency at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health and its thirteen teaching clinics, with rotations at Seattle-area hospitals. Dr. Born's clinical focus is utilizing integrative medicine to treat chronic disease. He has a strong interest in difficult and refractory cases, gastrointestinal issues, neurological and neurodegenerative disorders, endocrinology, cardiovascular disease and diabetes, autoimmune disease, development and behavioral issues, HIV/AIDS, and geriatrics. He has extensive knowledge and training in basic medical sciences, physical medicine (osseous manipulation, craniosacral therapy, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy), botanical medicine, homeopathy, biotherapeutic drainage, Ayurveda, counseling, pharmacology, and diet and nutrient therapies. In memoriam: Dr. Michael Rosenbaum, MD, consulted with Dr. Levine at the inception of NutriCology. He was an original member in the Orthomolecular Medical Society under Linus Pauling. Dr. Rosenbaum previously held the position of President of the Orthomolecular Medical Society and was well recognized as an author and lecturer. Dr. Rosenbaum has also been the President of the Huxley Society and a medical director of the Primal Therapy Center. He had a private practice in environmental medicine, allergy and immunology in both Marin County and Santa Monica since 1977. Dr. Rosenbaum received his M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City in 1968. He authored several books, including "The Natural Way to Energize & Revitalize Your Life" in 1999, and published a number of articles in medical journals. Dr. Rosenbaum also acted as a member of the review panel for The Healthy Foundation and Vitamins for the Homeless, and as a director for the Orthomolecular Health Medicine Organization.

Dr. Daniel Rubin, ND, has been a medical and technical consultant to the Company since 1997, and acted as our national spokesperson during 1999. Dr. Rubin is the past Medical Director for the Being Alive Wellness Center, the medical program of AIDS Project Arizona as well as a mentor physician for medical students and residents, serving two Naturopathic Medical Schools. He is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and a Medical Consultant in Oncology and Internal Medicine to the Naturopathic Physicians Board of Medical Examiners in the State of Arizona. He is also the Founding President of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the Oncology Editor of the International Journal of Naturopathic Medicine.

In addition to his academic appointment as Associate Clinical Professor of Naturopathic Medicine at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, Dr. Rubin is also an assistant editor of the peer-reviewed and indexed medical journal, Integrative Cancer Therapies. He also participates in research for the Block Center for Integrative Medicine. A frequent lecturer in both the academic and professional settings, Dr, Rubin has been asked to speak both nationally and internationally on Cancer, Immunology and HIV Disease.
